Many of Margaretta’s paintings include dolls and toys. Why did she pick them? What did they mean to her? How did she organize them? Bring five objects that are meaningful to you, including a piece of fabric or an article of clothing, and let’s draw a table top still-life.

ASLD is proud to partner with BMoCA in support of Flying in the Hands of Time, A Retrospective, celebrating the work of artist Margaretta Gilboy, with a series of workshops that will allow participants to deeply explore Gilboy’s artistic vision. All will be taught by ASLD faculty member Sandra Kaplan, Gilboy’s long-time friend and close artistic peer.

  • This class will take place at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMOCA), 1750 13th St, Boulder, CO 80302.
  • Please bring the drawing medium of your choice: pencils, charcoal, markers, crayons, watercolor etc. and the appropriate paper along with a drawing board (a piece of cardboard or foamcore will work).

Kaplan's paintings have been exhibited internationally, most recently in the Art Gallery of the Fulginiti Center for Bioethics and Humanities, on the CU/Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO. Her work has been recognized in the New York Times, Art in America and other publications. She is a former secretary of the Board of the Museum of Contemporary Art|Denver. http://www.sandrakaplan.com
