Intro to Woodburning - November

This is a course that will be teaching wood burning with some mixed media elements. The beginning of the course will start off with general skill building and experimentation with the various types of wood burning to show some of the ways heat can create art. From there we'll move into individual pieces of art the student would like to create and the skills necessary to manifest their piece.

  • This class will be teaching wood burning with a focus on line work and shading. Some elements of mixed media will be introduced such as painting.
  • Supplies needed:
    - A basic wood burning kit
    - eye protection
    - face mask for smoke

    Note from the instructor:

    Beginner wood burning kits are available at Ace hardware or Harbor Freight; costing between $10 - $20. There are other kits available online that are slightly more expensive. Face masks and eye protection can also be purchased at any local hardware store. I would suggest getting something that doesn't pinch the head and can be worn for long periods of time.
