The month of July gives sky observers the chance to see the constellation Scorpio with the red supergiant star Antares that will eventually explode as a supernova. Jupiter the largest planet and its 4 moons will be very exciting to see just as Galileo did 400 years ago. Saturn the ringed planet should be seen low in the sky as well. The summer triangle of Vega, Deneb, and Altair will be shining brilliantly overhead. Seasoned professor/astronomer Mark Freilich will lead each of these interactive astronomy programs. Each program features an indoor question and answer session on basic astronomy, fun and games followed by exciting outdoor viewing using a professional telescope. Participants are welcome to bring their own telescopes and binoculars. Handout information packet is included. Limited to 20 participants. (although this is an adult workshop, children ages 9 and up are welcome to register as long as they are accompanied by a participating adult). Funded in part by Capital One Bank.
