The summer triangle of Vega, Deneb and Altair are overhead. You will be able to see the Northern Cross in the constellation Cygnus the swan. The Big Dipper will be located in the northern skies. The largest planets Jupiter and Saturn many times the size of the earth should be in the southern skies. Also an extra treat the fall constellations will be rising in the east and we should see the furthest object with the naked eye the Andromeda Galaxy 2.5 million light years distant. Seasoned professor/astronomer Mark Freilich will lead each of these interactive astronomy programs. Each program features an indoor question and answer session on basic astronomy, fun and games followed by exciting outdoor viewing using a professional telescope. Participants are welcome to bring their own telescopes and binoculars. Handout information packet is included. Limited to 20 participants. (although this is an adult workshop, children ages 9 and up are welcome to register as long as they are accompanied by a participating adult). Funded in part by Capital One Bank.
