Stargazing Wonders – Astronomy Night July

Adult Program | This program is completed

Seasoned professor/astronomer Mark Freilich will lead each of these interactive astronomy programs. Each program features an indoor question and answer session on basic astronomy, fun and games followed by exciting outdoor viewing using a professional telescope. Participants are welcome to bring their own telescopes and binoculars. Handout information packet is included. Limited to 20 participants. (although this is an adult workshop, children ages 9 and up are welcome to register as long as they are accompanied by a participating adult).

July Sky Highlights
On July evenings the giant beast of Scorpio is in the skies. In this constellation, the red giant star Antares, 400 times the size of the sun can be seen. The summer triangle of Vega, Deneb, & Altair are in the evening skies as well. The best double star in the northern hemisphere, Albereio, can be seen. The two largest planets in the solar system, Jupiter and its 4 moons and Saturn with its fantastic ring system are also visible.
