Looking at History Through Glass

Class | Registration opens 8/21/2026 8:58 AM EDT

While Toledo is known as the “Glass City,” our role is just one aspect of the world of glass. Take the opportunity to consider glass from around the world, from ancient times to the present, and talk about Toledo’s special place in the art, science, and economics of glass. Many of the works presented are from the Toledo Museum of Art collection.
Carol Schwartz, Ph.D., loves to learn and finds it more fun to learn with others. She has taught students from junior high through graduate school, both online and face-to-face. After retiring from Lourdes University, Dr. Schwartz became a Docent at the Toledo Museum of Art, which allows her to combine her appreciation for art with a historical background to create a fuller perspective.
