Seeing History Through Renaissance Art

Class | Registration opens 8/21/2026 8:58 AM EDT

It is almost impossible to consider the European Renaissance without examining the art that defines this period—but it’s more than the exceptional beauty that exemplifies this time in history. This class—offered over two sessions—opens a discussion into what the art reveals about the period beyond its stunning imagery. Many of the works presented are from the Toledo Museum of Art collection.
Carol Schwartz, Ph.D., loves to learn and finds it more fun to learn with others. She has taught students from junior high through graduate school, both online and face-to-face. After retiring from Lourdes University, Dr. Schwartz became a Docent at the Toledo Museum of Art, which allows her to combine her appreciation for art with a historical background to create a fuller perspective.
