A Day of Lavender & Wine

Trip | Available

Join us for a special day featuring delectable wine and soothing lavender! Our first main attraction will be Chateau Winery & Vineyard, where we’ll meet the owners and partake in a wine-tasting before enjoying a lunch of sliders, veggies, cheese & crackers. Next, we’ll take a self-guided tour of the vineyard and a production tour with the winemaker. Afterward, we’ll have a bit of time for everyone to shop their selection of bottled wines or sit and enjoy their beautiful outdoor area and koi pond.

We’ll then head to Luckey Road Lavender Farm, where one family's love of lavender blooms across multiple fragrant varieties and 850 beautiful plants in Pemberville, Ohio. We’ll be guided through their purple-painted fields as we learn about the history of the farm and pick our own lavender to take home. Of course, we’ll also save time for shopping natural bath and body products in their farm shop before heading back to campus.

Registration Deadline: June 9th

  • ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION:

    • Chateau Winery:
      • We will tour their production area, which is flat concrete. The production tour takes about 15-30 minutes (depending on the number of questions and the interest of the group). There is a doorway that is raised that attendees must navigate to enter the production area, but beyond that it is a short walk (less than 50 yards).
      • Someone with asthma should be fine since the production area is a bit cooler.
      • People with walkers have entered the production area before, so this is possible.
      • If you would like to wander in the vineyard, you are welcome to do so on your own. There will be a little time for this after lunch. In the vineyard, the terrain is basic grass with no hills and few obstacles.
    • Luckey Road Lavender Farm:
      • The terrain is grass, mostly flat but there are some high and low spots.
      • The tour is more of a presentation and can be completed by sitting or standing in the same place. The rows are arranged in a way that the presenter can describe each from the same spot, with everyone gathered around. There is not much walking, if any at all.
      • There is walking if you choose to pick your own lavender. That can be completed from a chair after taking just a few steps or you can walk about 225 feet to reach the end of the row, if you want. That part is totally up to you and your comfort level.
      • If you prefer someone to pick your lavender for you, please notify us in advance and we'll make arrangements.
      • The lavender shop has a single step up and the space has room for a walker, if needed.
