Historic Architecture Walking Tour: West Market Street

Local Tour | Registration opens 5/14/2026 8:00 AM EDT

Blake Gifford’s walking tour highlights the historic architectural sites along York's West Market Street corridor, in the two blocks (1/4 mile) between Pershing Street and Continental Square. The timeline will jump between multiple different historical eras in discussing these beautiful remnants of York's past. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water as needed. With the loss of tree cover along Market Street, sunglasses and a hat are recommended for sun protection. The tour will move at a relaxed pace with frequent stops for discussion and participants are encouraged to ask questions and engage with the historic buildings and streetscapes along the way.

  • Meet at the intersection of West Market Street and Pershing Street, northeast side. Tour will begin in front of the Golden Plough Tavern. Metered parking is available on the street.
