Changing Perceptions on Pit Bull Type Breeds (Spartan Spotlight)

Course | Registration opens 8/3/2026 8:00 AM EDT

Misconceptions about pit bull type dogs heavily contribute to negative stereotypes, subjecting thousands of dogs to higher euthanasia risks, societal stigma, and targeted legislation. When people were surveyed about their perceptions of dogs, a short educational video that addressed
common misconceptions was successful in shifting perceptions about pit bull type dogs. This type of educational content has potential to improve bias against targeted breeds.
