Demuth Museum of Art Guided Tour
Local Tour | Registration opens 8/3/2026 8:00 AM EDT
This visit will consist of a guided tour of the Demuth Museum of Art and the Demuth Tobacco Shop, as well as a self-guided tour of the Lancaster Museum of Art. On view at the Demuth Museum of Art will be our 250th commemorative exhibition, exploring key moments in our site’s history, from colonial times to today. The show will incorporate both fine art and historical objects to tell how the Demuth family has been an integral part of Lancaster’s development from the first inland city of the 13 colonies to today’s vibrant and diverse community, including the ways the Demuths celebrated Independence Days throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. Participants will also be led through the museum, the home and studio of Charles Demuth, and will learn about his life, work, influences, and legacy. While at the Demuth Museum of Art, participants will get a tour of the Demuth Family Tobacco Shop to learn the history of tobacco in Lancaster County and the Demuth family's role in that history. Participants will then walk to the Lancaster Museum of Art (this building will have a new name by the time of your visit) to view the Strictly Functional Pottery National. This is a juried exhibition that will feature pottery pieces from across the country that participants can view at their own pace. This is a two-sneaker tour.
TOUR WILL BE HELD AT 120 E. KING ST, LANCASTER, PA, 17602. STREET PARKING IS AVAILABLE ALONG E. KING ST. OR INSIDE OF THE E. KING ST. GARAGE.
