Traveling Great Britain and the British Isles: Celebrating Nature and Honoring History
Course | Registration opens 12/7/2026 8:00 AM EDT
Traveling Great Britain and the British Isles is a kaleidoscope of experiences: dolphin watching in the North Sea, savoring scones in a 16th-century tearoom, walking Shetland's treacherous North Sea cliffs, hiking the Scottish Highlands, and visiting some of WWll's most famous sites. With an emphasis on both magnificent natural beauty as well as historical sites and their preservation, this course introduces unique places and experiences with most being off the beaten path.
Elizabeth Alger
Liz Alger’s interest in WWll was sparked by a relative who served as a physical therapist during the war. She’s pursued her interest via visits to historic sites in England and France. In 2024, Alger attended a course covering the events of 1942 at Oxford University. This summer she’s traveling to the Channel Islands, the only part of the UK ever occupied by the Nazis. She holds masters degrees in clinical social work and health care administration.
