How the Geology of Wrightsville Influenced Area History

The geology of the Wrightsville area is quite diversified and in some cases complexing. With its geology, Wrightsville became the center for an industrial revolution including iron mining, quarrying, and even an iron furnace. Many of the historic houses in town were constructed of local rock, but where did that rock originate? We will answer those questions and fill in several surprises along the way.
Jeri Jones
Jeri Jones has forty-eight years of experience in geology research and frequently leads groups on geology field trips. He has traveled throughout the country conducting trips and programs for all ages. Jones worked for York County Parks for 38 years before retiring in 2017. He previously taught at HACC-Gettysburg, York College of Pennsylvania, and Messiah University. He has authored five books, narrated a geologic education video series, and written numerous articles.
