This historical novel is set on the island of St Thomas in the early 1800s. It follows Rachel, a strong-willed young woman in a Jewish refugee community, whose arranged marriage and later forbidden love with Frederick Pizzarro challenge the expectations of her family and society. The novel explores love, rebellion, family legacy, and the life of Rachel's son Camille Pissarro, known as the Father of Impressionism. A discussion on the book will be held.
