Modern Art #4: Who Are We? and Why? Contemporary Artists Grapple with Ideas, Identity, and Effects

Course | Registration opens 2/1/2027 8:00 AM EDT

“That looks like fun, but what is it?” "Why is a soup can art?" "This image makes me feel a little uncomfortable." If these are your thoughts as you’re looking at a piece of modern art, you are not alone! Many people wish they knew more about modern art. This class is the fourth in a series of four stand-alone sessions that will help you see the big picture and appreciate modern and contemporary art. In this course, we will explore how contemporary artists react to modern issues such as globalization, technology, commercialization, conflicts, and stereotypes.
