The photopolymer techniques include drawing techniques, wash techniques, direct spit bite techniques, digitally generated stencils, masks, photopolymer gravure and genuine photogravure. In this workshop with master printermaker Henrik Bøegh, you will learn how to degrease and deoxidize copper plates, laminate the photopolymer film on the copperplate, expose the artwork to the plate in UV- light as well as learning to develop, harden and print the plate. Finally, you will be able to generate “the perfect positive” digitally in Photoshop for photogravure. Students will be introduced to non-toxic Intaglio materials, and new photopolymer techniques.

  • This workshop is ideal for:
  • -Printmakers who have been trained in traditional solvent- and acid based intaglio printmaking techniques, who are open to change to non-toxic materials and techniques
  • -Printmakers and photographers who want to go in depth with the new photopolymer techniques
  • -Beginners who want to learn the new health- and environmental friendly techniques in Non-Toxic Intaglio
  • Bring along your own apron, your favorite drawing tools and high-resolution photos on a USB stick. Laptop with Photoshop installed (optional).

Henrik Bøegh is a well known author and artist in the printmaking world. Since he established The Printmakers’ Experimentarium in Copenhagen in 1997 he has been working hard to spread the techniques of Non-Toxic Intaglio all over Europe. More than 800 printmakers from all over the world have been participating in his workshops all over Europe throughout the years since 97. His book “Handbook of Non-Toxic Intaglio” has been published in Danish, English, Spanish, Flemish, Dutchand French language. The book has been visualized in the video and DVD “Non-Toxic Intaglio Step by Step.” From the very beginning Henrik has been testing and evaluating the non-toxic printmaking methods and materials. The results of his investigations in photopolymer materials and acrylic etching grounds has been published currently through his free electronic newsletters to more than 1500 printmakers around the world. http://www.grafiskeksperimentarium.dk/henrik-boegh/?lang=en
