She is technically trained in figure drawing and painting and started teaching art when she was in college. Post graduation, Erin began working as an illustrator and graphic designer for clients including Westword, Utne Reader, Hay House Publishing and Childrens Hospital. She has even worked on the restoration of our historic front doors. Lunascape is Erin's photography business and she also runs Denver Drawing Academy where she offers private drawing instruction to young students. www.lunascape.com www.denverdrawingacademy.com Teaching Philosophy It is my joy and passion to teach kids to draw. Anyone can learn and you dont have to be perfect at it. When kids learn to draw they develop confidence and the ability to disengage their perfectionist side. Art is personal and learning to draw realistically can feel vulnerable. I balance praise and encouragement while giving suggestions and tips on improving techniques. When kids open themselves up to learning new techniques and skills, they exercises their heart muscle that is comfortable with feedback. My drawing prompts balance personal expression with skill building. I believe creativity thrives within the bounds of parameters so my assignments allow for that balance of doing what you want while following guidelines set to inspire your imagination. I communicate to students regularly that it is the drawings that don't work out that are the most important. I teach the art of embracing your mistakes in art and life. I am inspired to teach everyone to draw. Drawing is another form of communication and weather you are looking to go to the local art school or just want to learn for fun, Id like to teach you.
