Art journaling is a no-fail, no-rules approach to filling your pages. We will be mixing media and exploring how to capture the everyday moments using layers and text. Your pages may be quiet and focused or full of layers and textures. Judith will share journal prompts along with ways to create a place for playful, mindful and meaningful creative expression. No experience sketching or with mixed media required!

MA, Columbia University Judith Cassel-Mamet is an adjunct professor at the University of Denver and has had an extensive career teaching art to middle and high school students. She has presented numerous workshops on altered books and artist's books, and notes that “books feel intimate and mysterious, yet accessible." Teaching Philosophy: I love the shared adventure of playing with mixed media in a variety of formats. It is important to me to create a safe, challenging and information-packed classroom. I always welcome novice and experienced students alike, as there is much to learn from everyone! Artist Statement: My artistic goal is to try to capture a variety of experiences in my "adventure journal" approach and to create rich, textured surfaces on both page and canvas in my mixed-media work. I am inspired by inner landscapes and external images; I am a student of the creative process in any form.
