In this two-day workshop, all participants construct their own pinhole cameras and practice making pinhole photographs. Activities will explore the science behind pinhole photography, lighting set-ups for still life and portrait photography, and ways to play with exposure and distortion.

Students are invited to bring their own objects to convert into a pinhole camera, and cigar boxes will be available for practice. Students will learn about direct-positive photographic paper and darkroom printing.

Ashlae Shepler is an artist who enjoys experimenting with old cameras and historic photography techniques. As a freelance creative, she loves collaborating with creative teams, and she has served clients in fine arts organizations, small businesses and higher education. Her fine art photography has been exhibited in galleries located in Dallas, Texas; Chicago, Illinois; Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Denver, Colorado. When she's not in the studio, she's hiking trails along the front range or cuddling with her cat.
