This class is designed for the beginner or anyone who wants to refresh or kickstart a drawing practice. We’ll focus on careful observation skills, translating what you see into simple shapes and lines that are easy to draw. We'll learn about different drawing materials and paper, and use a variety of simple exercises and drawing techniques to get comfortable rendering any subject matter that interests you.

Students will need a sketchbook for the class (8.5 x 11 or 9 x 12), and a variety of pencils to be discussed in the first class.

I am a professional artist and retired Visual Arts Director at Denver School of the Arts. A National Board Certified art educator, I have been teaching people to draw for over 35 years. Drawing in a class is a rich experience that supports learning from others as well as the teacher.
