Let's draw cats. This class will introduce realistic figure drawing skills, but with cats. By drawing cats in different poses, we will learn how to see underlying anatomical and geometric structures and why they are important to understand as an artist. We will learn about realistic textural rendering by discussing different types of fur. And of course the most difficult and illusive aspect of portraiture: capturing likeness. We will investigate how to make a drawing of a cat look like a specific cat.

  • **No camp on Monday, July 5**
  • This camp will be held via Zoom. Meeting links will be sent out one hour prior to the start of camp.
  • Individual supply kits will be provided for each student, included in the materials fee.

Raised in Denver, Colorado, Karl began taking painting lessons from the Arts Students League of Denver at the age of nine. He later attended Denver School of the Arts, an arts magnet program from the start of middle school through to his senior year of high school. Upon graduation, he moved to Chicago where he attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts. It was during this time that he discovered his love for creating music and exploring the overlap between sound and visual media. http://karlorion.com/
