Printmaking Sampler (5 classes)
Printmaking is a diverse medium using different processes to print a single image. This workshop offers a basic introduction to several techniques and is appropriate for non-artists or artists who would like to try, or reengage, with printmaking. This class will provide a “sampler” preparing students for additional study with more specialized print classes offered by the League. We’ll create small prints with a carved relief block, drypoint intaglio, several forms of monotype and (time permitting), a quick screen print. Students will gain understanding of various print processes as well as appreciation for fine art prints.
Includes all materials and tools (including easy cut rubber linoleum, linoleum cutters, Plexi plate, etching needles, brayers, barens, soy based inks, screens, squeegies, stencils, X-acto knifes, scissors, screen print base, paints, paper and pencil for sketching). Most papers will be provided but students may want to purchase additional large papers for monotypes. You do not need to bring anything to the first class. We will discuss papers in the second class.
