KA Summer Camp | This class is completed

An art activism class with a focus on issues relating to the LGBTQ+ communities. This class will encourage creating traditional or multi-media works of art inspired by experiences faced by LGBTQ+ groups. We will discuss highly accomplished artists and activists who explore these themes to find inspiration for your work, while learning more about the forgotten chapters many of these artists claim in art history.

  • This will be an open and safe space to explore personal and/or universal themes. Students may focus on individual, ongoing projects or create something new. A variety of media is encouraged.
  • All supplies are included in the materials fee and will be provided at ASLD. Students may bring their own laptops or tablets to work on if they wish.
Karl Poulson

Raised in Denver, Colorado, Karl began taking painting lessons from the Arts Students League of Denver at the age of nine. He later attended Denver School of the Arts, an arts magnet program from the start of middle school through to his senior year of high school. Upon graduation, he moved to Chicago where he attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts. It was during this time that he discovered his love for creating music and exploring the overlap between sound and visual media. http://karlorion.com/
