  • In this workshop I will demonstrate how I use stamps to build layers on thrown pots and how I build larger complex pots with moving parts. Day 1 will be throwing blank forms that I will then alter while still attached to the bat. Day 2 will cover trimming, handles, building mutli part pieces and finishing techniques.

    Day 1

    Morning
     - I will throw "blanks" and talk about how the making process starts for me. Cups, mugs, match striker parts, and parts of the more complex pieces like the locking jar.

    Afternoon
     - I will start altering those thrown pots. Using wood stamps and bisque stamps I will later teh cups and mugs and talk about that process. This is a good time to pass tools around and pots as I work on them. If there is enough time I will then start working on altering the parts to the larger pieces.

    Day 2

    Morning
     - I will pull handles, trim pots, and show finishing steps for those pieces, including the terra sigillata process and underglaze wash.

    Afternoon
     - I will finish the locking jar and match st
