Advanced beginners wheel throwing is the next step for those who have taken an intro to wheel throwing class and want to continue building upon their skill and understanding. The focus of this course will be on refining previously learned skills and techniques such as throwing, trimming, and glazing/surface finishing while expanding the scope of possibilities that can be achieved on the pottery wheel. Through guided demonstrations and exercises, students will gain confidence in throwing more complex forms and creating unified sets of work. Tools such as calipers, scales and throwing bats will be utilized to help students more accurately gauge their pieces and develop a consistent body of work. For students who have the basic knowledge of pottery, yet find themselves asking ‘whats next?’, this course is the perfect opportunity to explore a deeper layer of wheel throwing.
