From start to finish we will learn the foundations of portrait painting with oil paint. Appropriate for novice and experienced creators who have a passion for beauty, whimsy, and the unusual. Using photo references as a starting point, we will focus on finding your personal creative voice. We will cover proportions, value, and basic color mixing.

  • All supplies are included in the materials fee and will be provided at ASLD.

Jen focused seriously on ballet and modern dance throughout her childhood and adult life. She has a BA in Performance Art from the University of MD. Starling discovered painting later in life, but no stranger to discipline, she has dedicated herself to a demanding studio practice, showing her work, and teaching at the Art Student League of Denver, and ReCreative Denver. In addition, she has numerous online courses available. Her work is collected by private collectors in the US and Europe, and resides in the city of Loveland Colorado’s public art collection.
