This class offers students the opportunity to develop their work and get it ready to show. Students are encouraged to bring in works in progress or begin new work in an open studio format. Individual attention will be given to support the successful completion of at least one piece that we will professionally prepare for show or sale. Additionally, we will practice tools for effectively communicating our ideas and presenting our work. If you are interested in creating, preparing, showing and selling your artwork then this class is for you.

  • Students should have working knowledge of principles of art and design and self driven intention as course does not provide given exercises but independent work support. This class is for Teens ages 14-17.
  • Students are encouraged to bring 2-3 works in progress or come with unique (not copied art) ideas for what they are interested in making. If they have special materials they need to complete in-progress works they should bring those as well. Before the last class we will discuss any framing materials they need to acquire based on the size of their final work of art.

Almond Williams has studied abroad in Florence, Italy, where she received instruction in advanced painting, painting restoration, and art history. She has a passion for the process and exploration of art making, which she balances with a concern toward concept. Teaching Philosophy: I believe in a learning environment of experiment and play that ignites a love for the process of art and the desire to discover new and exciting outcomes. An encouraging atmosphere helps students gain the self confidence to emerge within their own ideas and maintain a lifelong love of the arts. Students can expect to be exposed to a variety of methods and materials as well as different artists' work. Additionally, we will work to explore concepts that deepen our awareness of ourselves and our environment. Artist Statement: Color, relationship, process, and technique are all important aspects that inform the concepts at the core of my work. Often manifesting themselves in abstractions, my paintings have an etherial quality that at the same time offer up something of the familiar. Their aim is to engage the viewer to enter into a dialogue that is offered up, but not controlled, by the artwork itself. http://www.almondwilliamsart.com/
