Multi Level Wheel Throwing

Adult Course | Registration closed 10/17/2024

***Students should have basic knowledge of working on a potters wheel***

Building on the foundations of wheel throwing, students will focus on creating their desired forms. Students will work on shaping and refining their forms for functionality and personalized use. We will explore dinnerware such as mugs, cups, bowls, and plates. Additionally, we will go over decorative vessels such as vases, planters and lidded forms. We will explore various surface decoration and glazing techniques, ensuring that your pieces are not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing.

  • Each class includes a standard weekly lab fee which covers the cost of firing and glazing. In addition to the standard lab fee, students will need to purchase clay through the registration office at ASLD and must be done in person: $20 for 25lbs of stoneware, $25 for 25lbs of porcelain.  Please only purchase clay from ASLD, unless approved by the studio manager.  No low-fire clays may be used at ASLD.

New students, arrive 15-30 minutes early to your first class in order to allow time for the purchase of clay.

Currently enrolled students have access to Ceramic open studio for a $10 fee. Please see the whiteboard in the hallway for updated open studio hours.

Please review the ceramics studio policies before attending the first class: CERAMICS STUDIO POLICIES

Cannon, Ren
Ren Cannon

Ren (they/them) is an artist based in Denver, CO. They have a BFA in Fibers and Drawing from Colorado State University in Ft. Collins although they primarily work as a printmaker and potter right now. They think that the best way to learn is to experiment, make mistakes, and gain some knowledge rather than seeking perfection. When not in the studio, Ren likes to ride bikes, pet dogs, learn about science and nature, and try new things.
