Oil Paintings From Life

In Oil Portraits From Life we will paint a different model every week. The focus with be building solid block-ins using generalities such as large value shapes . We will practice accurate proportions using tools such as plumb lines, and comparative measurements. In addition we will cover basic color theory and the importance of edge quality.

- Palette-many options here from a sheet of glass to disposable pallet pad.
Palette Knife (not plastic)
Brushes-Variety of sizes made for oil painting sizes 0-6ish
Canvas for each class (make sure it has a coat of dry gesso)

Jen Starling
Jen focused seriously on ballet and modern dance throughout her childhood and adult life. She has a BA in Performance Art from the University of MD. Starling discovered painting later in life, but no stranger to discipline, she has dedicated herself to a demanding studio practice, showing her work, and teaching at the Art Student League of Denver, and ReCreative Denver. In addition, she has numerous online courses available. Her work is collected by private collectors in the US and Europe, and resides in the city of Loveland Colorado’s public art collection.
