Small Wonders: TEEN Studio The Art of Making Miniatures
Children Course | Available
Think big but work tiny!
In this miniature-making course, you will design your own miniature room while learning about the rich history of the pocket-sized art form. Little by little, you'll craft mini furniture and decor using materials like clay, cardboard, and fabric. It's a small world with plenty of room for students of all experience levels.
Each class, students will learn a different method for creating a miniature version of a piece of furniture, art or decor, with a short historical lesson about the history of miniature-making as it applies to that day’s objective. Students will each have their own 12"x12" room to furnish throughout the course.
- Students will be asked to bring the following supplies to each class:
-Small self-healing cutting mat
-Tweezers
-X-acto knife with extra blades
-Small sewing scissors
-Ruler/straight edge
-Small paint brushes
Dependent on each week’s lesson, the classroom will have the following materials supplied: hot glue, super glue, glue dots, rubber cement, tape, a rotary cutter, card stock, thin fabrics, paint, air dry clay and small recyclables.
