Learn how to turn your 'bad' art and hoarded scrap materials into something useful and unique! Participants will learn the process to create a unique recycled sketchbook, which includes how to format a book with interesting found and scrounged cover materials, and re-purposed interior pages. Book uses include: sketchbook, journal, idea book, class notebook, to do lists, daily thoughts, photo album, guest book, research book, and more! Instructor will provide enough materials and paper for participants to make one book. Students are encouraged to bring their own stash of random paper scraps, found materials, fabric scraps, etc.

  • Please bring:
  • -paper scraps, found papers, fabric scraps
  • -old art or 'bad' art, sketches, unfinished drawings
  • -ruler
  • -pencil & eraser
  • -scissors, *optional: small grid or self-healing cutting mat
  • *optional: needle and thread

Jennifer Ghormley is a Denver-based artist, specializing in printmaking, mixed media,
and installation art. She has worked at Anderson Ranch Art Center, previously held an
Artist-in-Residence at RedLine Contemporary Art Center, Museum of Outdoor Arts, and
the Children's Museum. She is on the Teaching Artist Roster at Think360 Arts, working
with young audiences and integrative arts programs. Jennifer is also an instructor at the
University of Denver and Art Student's League of Denver.  Ms. Ghormley is a member
of the Niza Knoll Gallery on Santa Fe Dr in Denver.
