***Previous clay experience necessary***

Make bowls, plates, masks, boxes, jars, figures, and creatures. Add plastic, wood. fabric, paper, metal, nails, rocks to your work. Paint it, spray it , sponge it, drip glaze and paint on it, draw on it.

Let's explore creative ways of working with this plastic medium. Clay is magic, make anything you want. Cut, carve, pierce. After it's fired, combine it with wood. plastic, metal, rocks, stickers... the list goes on! Glaze it, draw on the clay with pencils, use paints. Student's will also learn how to work with clay slips, metallic stains, commercial underglazes and glazes made in house!

The sky's the limit!

  • Each class includes a standard weekly lab fee which covers the cost of firing and glazing. In addition to the standard lab fee, students will need to purchase clay through the registration office at ASLD and must be done in person: $20 for 25lbs of stoneware, $25 for 25lbs of porcelain, $10 for 12lbs of our Studio made clay.  Please only purchase clay from ASLD, unless approved by the studio manager.  No low-fire clays may be used at ASLD.
