New! Chunky Sweater Weather

Let's cut and sew a sweater from knit fabrics. Patterns will be provided (80's-90's patterns). In the first class we will discuss the basics of cutting out a pattern, understanding sewing fundamentals when working with knit fabrics, i.e selvage, warp and weft, cutting on a grain line. We will also learn how to use the serger sewing machine for a professional finish.
- Required Materials:
Fabric (instructor will have fabric on hand but you are welcome to bring your own.)
Sewing supplies (to be provided by instructor)
Giuliana Maresca
Giuliana is a photographer with a passion for making bags, costume construction and fashion. She worked closely with Unions for many years out of Los Angeles photographing both special events and workers in their daily environment. In addition, she worked closely with at-promise-youth through the Court School system in Santa Clara County in California where she taught art enrichment. While living in San Jose, she was a member of the School of Visual Philosophy. There she cultivated her passion for Screen-printing and fiber arts.
