Beginning Sewing - March/April
Adult Course | Registration opens 2/4/2025 7:00 AM MST
Introduction to sewing, including the use of a sewing machine and serger, fabric and pattern selection, pattern layout, and construction methods in order to make clothing alterations, home projects, and unique gifts. Students will make a wine bag or a tote bag the first night.
- Learning Objective:
The student will learn to operate the sewing machines and sewing notions, including threading, care and maintenance, and safety. The student will learn to operate the serger. The student will construct a simple tote bag. The student will learn how to read and understand patterns. The student will select and purchase supplies to construct elastic waist pants.
Vicky Nolan
In addition to being an Emily Griffith Technical College instructor, Vicky is a board member of the Colorado Association of Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences (CATFACS). She won Teacher of the Year in 2012 and the Westword Mastermind award in 2009. She is also a member of many professional organizations including the American Sewing Guild and Fashion Group International.
