Printmaking Sampler

This beginning level class will introduce students to the media of printmaking including relief, intaglio, monotype and screen printing. Students will create small prints in a different technique each week and will view tons of prints to appreciate the variety of techniques and skills possible in this art form. This class is perfect for those who might have done some printmaking long ago, those who are total newbies, or those considering a future class in a single technique.
Students will gain knowledge and understanding of different print processes, learn each process as they create sample prints in a variety of print techniques including relief, intaglio and monotype. Students will also understand the difference between fine art prints and mass produced editions while learning to sign and edition original art prints.
Printmaking Tools and Vocabulary:
Matrix, relief, baren, brayer, chop, mirror image, editions, giclee
etching needle, tarletan, press, press pressure, press blankets,
screen, squeegie, pochoir
- Tools and materials are provided in the materials fee but students may want to supplement with their own printing papers.
Deb Rosenbaum
A Denver Native, Deb Rosenbaum is a professional artist with extensive art instruction experience including fifteen years as Visual Arts Director at Denver School of the Arts. Her humorous and quirky work in collage, printmaking, and sculpture reflects her passion for story telling and collecting, combining disparate materials. She currently serves as a Board member and faculty at the Art Students League of Denver.
