Teen Printmaking Studio!
Do you want to try something new? Learn how to make a hand-pulled print in the ASLD print studio! We start out with collagraphs which let you paint and draw on a surface to make a print. From there, I do a weekly demo on a new technique depending on what kind of art you want to make. Printmaking is a great way to sharpen your artmaking skills and it will allow you to make multiple images from the same plate. Come experiment and learn some cool new stuff!
1st class- Introductions and class expectations. Intro to printmaking studio, demo, and plate preparation.
2nd class - Work time, and printing
3rd class - Demo, work time, printing
4th class - demo, work time, printing, critique
Teen Studio Night is open to youth ages 14-17.
Light dinner is included!
- Learning Objectives:
Students will learn how to make a print using a tetrapak carton and make a monoprint by the end of session. Instructor works with students to gauge interest & builds demos with student input.
- Please wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty- printmaking ink does not wash out of your clothes! Bring your sketchbook and favorite drawing supplies. If you have an X-acto knife, bring that as well! Bring your Tetrapak recyclables- these will be used to make a print.
Ren Cannon
Ren (they/them) is an artist based in Denver, CO. They have a BFA in Fibers and Drawing from Colorado State University in Ft. Collins although they primarily work as a printmaker and potter right now. They think that the best way to learn is to experiment, make mistakes, and gain some knowledge rather than seeking perfection. When not in the studio, Ren likes to ride bikes, pet dogs, learn about science and nature, and try new things.
