Chiné Collé Printing Workshop

Adult Course | Registration opens 4/1/2025 12:00 AM MST

Using your own plates, we will explore some of the many different possibilities of using the technique of chiné collé in printing. After a few varied demos, we’ll get busy chasing dreams, making them come true. This class is for students who have their own intaglio plates. We will explore multiple angles of the chiné collé printing technique, then apply some of these ideas to the plates we have. We’ll talk about the history, work on wiping and printing, and have fun transforming art.

  • Students must have their own intaglio plates
  • Must have intaglio printing paper, apron, rag, paper towels. Bring your printing plate/plates. ( chiné collé prints can be made without intaglio plates, but it was invented with etching and ingraving in mind)
Grant Williams

Grant Russell Williams is a Denver-based artist who has been working out of Blue Silo Studios for over a decade. He graduated with a BFA in printmaking from the University of Denver in 1991. Since that time he has worked and shown across the Front Range and elsewhere. His work consists largely of etchings, but he also shown drawings, paintings, and sculptures. "My work is really just an exploration of the world as I know it. I’m curious how a personal mythology becomes a shared mythology. Blurring the lines in art can help people ask the questions they need to ask in order to better interpret their own experience.” He has been published in several magazines, and done book illustration work. He is currently teaching intaglio printmaking at the Art Student’s League of Denver.
