The Figure in Pastel

Learn about soft pastels and technique along with the challenges of color, starting with a structural approach to figure drawing. Class will use live nude models.
- Learning Objectives:
1. Through demonstration from the instructor, students will learn about the soft pastel medium, and learn strategies for how to use soft pastels for creating successful figurative drawings. They’ll learn about color, value, and texture interpretation, as well as gain basic understanding of human proportion and gesture.
2. Students will get help and feedback from the instructor while they do their own drawings from live model, both nude and clothed.
- Please bring:
- -Vine or willow Charcoal
- -Kneaded rubber eraser
- -Newsprint or Bond Paper 18 x 24
- -Charcoal paper
- -Spray fixative
- -Sharpie marker
- -Optional: pastel & medium tone pastel papers
- -Optional : Chamois
- -Optional : compressed charcoal or Conte crayon

He recently received an Award of Merit at the 2022 Colorado Governor’s Art Show and Sale.
