Animated Young Minds: A Celebration of Black Visual Artistry

This course takes place in 4 sessions over a 2 day period, and can be accessed as a full package of 4 or a la carte. Each session will highlight a unique Black creator’s perspective in the animation and film industries while empowering young artists in the Denver community to learn new skills. Students will engage in tutorials created by Mile High Animation and presented by visual talents Bruce W. Smith, Shawn Martinbrough, Sonya Carey & Coran Kizer Stone. Using animation tools like Procreate, students will design a showcase piece following directives on the auditorium screen. Following the lesson, there will be interactive panels with presenters that will offer real time critique of each piece.

Course 4:

Presentation: Coran will discuss his work on Spider-Man and other notable films and comics for DC and Marvel, providing insights into his creative process and the industry.

Training: He will share his expertise in character design and concept art, guiding participants through the process of creating dynamic and engaging characters.

Sinha, Eric
Eric Sinha

Hi, I'm Eric Sinha. I live in Park Hill with my wife and kids, and teach animation at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. My journey of education began when I was a camp counselor teaching video creation and game design. I worked at the tech camp for 5 years and became the director. Working with kids and exploring art together is one of the most rewarding feelings in my life.

My BFA was in film and later a traditional animation degree from Don Bluth University. Don Bluth was the creator of incredible films like All Dogs Go to Heaven, Land Before Time, and Anastasia. It was an incredible experience that left a lasting impact and guided my life towards animation.

It's my mission to bring animation and storytelling to the students of Denver and the surrounding areas.
