Build Your Own Frame Loom & Learn to Weave

In our first class, participants will learn about different weft-face weaving traditions historically and globally, and then glue, sand and tie their own continuous warp loom for themselves to use and own. On week 2, we will learn to warp your loom and size the warp threads, and learn to make heading passes, learn weaving vocabulary
Weeks 3-5 will be about learning stripes multiple directions, how to weave shapes, use a french tapestry 'cartoon', and how to finish and tie off the weaving (s).
- All materials provided but if you would prefer certain colors of yarn, feel free to buy some after the first class, so you know what to get.

KarenMaria is a classically trained French Tapestry Weaver and experienced weaver in the Navajo traditions (Pearl Sunrise, teacher). She sidelined her weaving career when the Columbine shootings spurred her into the desire to help youth and she earned her art teaching credentials to serve for 24 years in Colorado.
KarenMaria creates art that invites viewers to slow down, be in their sense of present moment visual experience to discover details and stories in the symbolism and craftsmanship of her work. She works in fiber, watercolor and collage and has shown her art is various fine art galleries in Colorado. Her IG is Lolygaggn.
