Intro to Books: Bookmaking for Beginners

Join us for a two-session beginners workshop where we will explore essential bookmaking structures and stitches. We will begin by covering the fundamentals, tools, adhesives, vocabulary, and resources to give students a foundation for future learning. Students will be shown a multitude of samples that will prompt your creativity before we begin.
Students will create five books and a paper box. Structures include the hardcover accordion book, a single-section pamphlet stitch, Japanese stab binding, single-page books, and a phase box or paper portfolio. Completing these books using a variety of techniques will serve as the starting place for student’s next projects. This workshop is open to all and we look forward to sharing this experience and our love of books with you.
