OFFSITE Sketchbooks: Learning to Draw What You See at the Denver Botanic Gardens

Botanicals are an accessible and forgiving subject matter for artists desiring to draw realistically, Life Drawing. Recieve your own multi-media sketchbook and get technique instruction on a variety of League owned drawing/painting media so you can try new art materials and discover what you like to use without having to buy everything up front.  Enjoy learning basic drawing skills that will combine together as the weeks progress. Participants will learn to break down what they are observing so they can choose how to proceed in making their own, unique art with confidence.  

 

*You will have free admission into DBG with your class, no ticket purchases necessary.*

  • This class will take place at the Denver Botanic Gardens located at 1007 York St. Denver, CO 80206
    • Specific Location: Freyer-Newman Center (corner of 11th & York), Classroom 6 and Gardens. Students should come directly to the classroom in FNC and not go to main visitor center.

  • Supplies included but feel free to bring your own media that you enjoy using.
Karen Kenney

KarenMaria is a classically trained French Tapestry Weaver and experienced weaver in the Navajo traditions (Pearl Sunrise, teacher).  She sidelined her weaving career when the Columbine shootings spurred her into the desire to help youth and she earned her art teaching credentials to serve for 24 years in Colorado.

 

KarenMaria creates art that invites viewers to slow down, be in their sense of present moment visual experience to discover details and stories in the symbolism and craftsmanship of her work.  She works in fiber, watercolor and collage and has shown her art is various fine art galleries in Colorado. Her IG is Lolygaggn.
