Make a Book of Pop-Up Wildflowers

Multi-Generational | Registration opens 11/4/2025 10:00 AM MDT

Explore the structure of flowers by building and binding ten three-dimensional blooms!

In this two-day workshop, master paper engineer Shawn Sheehy will lead you through the assembly of pop-up wildflowers native to the midwestern/western United States, including: Sego Lily, Miner’s Lettuce, Heartleaf Arnica, Western Columbine, Prickly Pear Cactus, Pasque Flower, Cone Flower, Violet, Blanket Flower, and Sweet Flag.

As you build these structures, you will examine two essential design considerations: the sculpting of representational flowers from paper, and the paper engineering required to lift, move and collapse pop-up structures.

You will be provided with a kit of pre-cut pieces and asked to bring a collection of simple, easily-acquired hand tools. The workshop culminates in the binding of the individual blooms into a tidy book that includes an elegant but practical cover.
