The Figure in Pastel
Adult Course | Registration opens 11/4/2025 10:00 AM MDT
Through demonstration from the instructor, students will learn about the soft pastel medium, and learn strategies for how to use soft pastels for creating successful figurative drawings. They’ll learn about color, value, intensity, and texture interpretation, as well as gain basic understanding of human proportion and gesture. Students will get help and feedback from the instructor while they do their own drawings from live models, both nude and clothed.
Vine or willow Charcoal
Soft Pastels (not oil pastels) or Conte crayon
Kneaded rubber eraser
Pastel or Charcoal paper (medium tone preferable)
Spray fixative (not to be used in class)
Rag or towel
Drawing board

His oil paintings – found in numerous private collections around the world, and galleries around the country – have been nationally recognized. He is an award-winning artist, and Signature Member of Oil Painters of America, National Oil & Acrylic Painters’ Society, and American Society of Marine Artists. He recently received an Award of Merit at the 2022 Colorado Governor’s Art Show and Sale.
