Upcycle a Suit:
In this 3-day workshop, students will begin the first day deconstructing a man’s suit jacket and/or trouser, using only a seam ripper. Students will be surprised when they find a variety of felt, satin, wool, shaped pieces that will then be reconstructed into a different garment, a bag, sculpture or wall hanging. Our only constraint is that all the pieces must maintain their shape and be kept intact. There is absolutely no cutting, so overlapping, cinching, gathering techniques etc. will be used to create a new shape. The separate pieces will be sewn back together, using hand sewing techniques (students will be introduced to a variety of hand sewing and embroidery stitches) and machine sewing if necessary.
This workshop requires some knowledge of sewing and fabric, but it is not essential, and beginners are welcome to take on this challenge.

Some experience preferred but not necessary.
