The Diversity of Solar Plate Printmaking

Adult Class | Registration opens 2/3/2026 10:00 AM MST

Solar plate printmaking is an exciting, diverse and flexible nontoxic intaglio medium. This class will have a demonstration on how to make and print a solar plate. Some of the techniques covered include traditional-looking etching, photo etching, embossing, relief, and images that look like traditional hand drawn lithographs. I will also show prints and plates and discuss more advanced multiple plate techniques. This medium is great for artists that like to draw, collage or work with photography.

  • This class will be held on Thursdays: 4/2 and 4/16.
  • Solar Plates ( you can find them at solarplate.com ) ( If you want to do photography please purchase Km 43 Plates from takach.com )
