Natural Fabric Dyeing with Turmeric
Sampler | Registration opens 5/5/2026 9:00 AM MST
Turmeric is a vivid and delicious root spice known for its stunning yellow color, and if you have ever put leftover curry in Tupperware, then you know it stains everything yellow! Because of its staining power, turmeric is a great natural fabric dye. This one-day class explores shibori dyeing techniques with turmeric dye vats to send you home with a beautiful golden piece of fabric art.
The first half of class will be spent working to get your fabric ready of the dye vat using easy shibori techniques (reminiscent to tie dyeing). The second half of class with be spent eating delicious turmeric based foods while chatting with friends and waiting for your fabric to come out of the vat to take home.
This class is perfect for a easy summer activity. You get to make art and have a meal, what is better than that!
The instructor will be providing a cotton tote bag and various scraps of fabric/clothes to dye, but you are more than welcome to bring your own fabric items to dye, please just make sure the fabric is 100% natural fibers (cotton and/or silk are best).
All food provided will be vegetarian with Gluten Free options. Some items will be made by the instructor in their home. All food provided may have common allergens present and/or have come in contact with common allergens.
