Abstraction From Nature
Adult Class | Registration opens 5/5/2026 9:00 AM MST
Have you ever wanted to work with abstraction but struggled to make the leap from representational work? In this class, we will work through a series of exercises that will give you some structure to use when dipping your toes into a new way of expression. By breaking down the process, abstraction becomes more approachable and intuitive. We will look at how using texture, movement, and zooming in on a small part of the world can help yield some truly interesting results!
This class is open to all levels. Having a flexible and curious mind is all that is needed. This is not a class that will tell you how to work abstractly, it is a class that will teach you how to THINK abstractly. If you have questions, please feel free to email the instructor at 0ren.cannon0@gmail.com
Ren Cannon
Ren (they/them) is an artist based in Denver, CO. They have a BFA in Fibers and Drawing from Colorado State University in Ft. Collins although they primarily work as a printmaker and potter right now. They think that the best way to learn is to experiment, make mistakes, and gain some knowledge rather than seeking perfection. When not in the studio, Ren likes to ride bikes, pet dogs, learn about science and nature, and try new things.
