Finding Freedom in Doodling
Sampler | Registration opens 5/5/2026 9:00 AM MST
We’ve all done it—sketching in the margins of science class notes or across a desk blotter, absentmindedly or with great intent. Doodling has been around for centuries, appearing even in the margins of ancient and medieval manuscripts.
Armed with a few simple tools and tricks of the artist’s trade, this sampler-style workshop offers a playful introduction to doodling. Participants will explore techniques such as entopic graphomania and automatism.
This is an easygoing, laid-back drawing workshop for all skill levels. With an emphasis on process over product, the session invites slowing down, experimenting, and settling into a relaxed, attentive state through mark-making. Come have fun, unwind, and enjoy the art of the doodle.
“Doodling is beyond craft and criticism; it belongs to us all; it’s impossible to do it badly—or well.” —Matthew Battles
