This workshop offers a focused introduction to gouache painting, a dynamic and expressive ?medium known for its rich opacity, vibrant color, and flexibility. Gouache bridges the qualities of ?watercolor and acrylic, allowing artists to work with both transparent washes and solid, opaque ?layers.?
Participants will explore the fundamental characteristics of gouache, including color mixing, ?layering, tonal control, and surface interaction. The workshop emphasizes creative exploration ?while building strong technical foundations, making it suitable for beginners as well as artists ?with some prior painting experience.?
- Students registering for this class should have experience in drawing fundamentals.

Ali Ghassan
Born in Iraq, Ali Ghassan Al-Zobaede is a classically trained painter. He was an instructor at Babel University and Al-Koufa University in Iraq. He is the co-founder of the 'Free Atelier Group.' Ali has worked with theatre companies in Iraq to design and build set designs. Ali teaches private lessons in painting and drawing. At ASLD, he teaches workshops in sculpture, painting and drawing.
